BIM Coordinator for Construction Support Services
POSITION SUMMARY
The BIM Coordinator for Construction Support Services (CSS) will provide oversight to the entire team including the Lead Engineer/Architect (E/A) and their subconsultants, the Construction Manager/ General Constructor (CM/GC) and their subcontractors and the CSS Team and their subconsultants as it relates Revit modeling functions.
This individual review and work with the entire team to ensure standardized BIM process across the project and is responsible for establishing, monitoring and enforcing BIM standards for that project. The role of the BIM Coordinator/Modeler will serve as the main point of contact for BIM related issues for the assigned project.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Will review and approve BIM procedures and processes provided by the Owner’s Lead E/A and CM/GC and ensure that client BIM standards and processes are being maintained by the entire team throughout the project. Will audit BIM throughout the design and formally at the 35%, 65%, 95% and final design, providing the necessary review and comments.
- Performs audits for shop drawings, record changes and ensures this work is in compliance with approved BIM procedures and processes and schedules.
- Ensures the BIM design with all disciplines is in compliance with approved BIM procedures and processes. Attends design coordination meetings with team members and client representatives.
- Provides their expertise and advice requiring non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Work may involve areas lacking precedent.
- Ensures that BIM is being coordinated with all of the disciplines for the contract documents with the construction personnel and participates in site inspections during construction as required.
- Assists in field data collection and/or field system verification.
- Provides review and approval for adjustment to project specifications made by the E/A or CM/GC, during the project, to fit project requirements.
- Ensures that the selection of equipment by the CM/GC will fit the project design.
- Reviews and approves the final BIM provided by the CM/GC and/or the E/A and that is meets all contract requirements.
- Actively participates in professional organizations where the technical reputation and image of the firm may be enhanced.
REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND SKILLS
PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE OBTAINED
10 years of combined experience in BIM design, coordination and management, including. Three years of previous experience in working on projects that required BIM Coordinator for Construction Support Services
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, FORMAL TRAINING
- Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; plus five years of applicable practical BIM experience on mega alternative delivery projects for transit, highway, public works, and utilities (projects over $500M)
- Obtain/maintain Autodesk Professional Certification for AutoCAD, Revit Architecture and Revit Civil and MEP
COMPETENCIES, SKILLS PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Experience or an understanding of civil, architectural, systems, mechanical, electrical, fire protection, or plumbing engineering disciplines
- Knowledge of Autodesk products (or comparable competitive products) is essential
- Knowledge of additional BIM related software is a plus
- Candidates who reside locally in the Los Angeles, CA area that have worked on local transit related clients, including LA Metro, Caltrans, LADOT, LA Water and Power and Public Works and local utility companies are preferred
