Project Director for Construction Management Support Services

POSITION SUMMARY

This experienced Project Director will report directly to the Practice Lead of Brian Ansari and Associates Inc., Construction and Transportation Solutions.

The position requires experience with public contracts, familiarity with codes/ laws governing construction, and strong leadership, managerial and technical skills directly applicable to heavy civil construction and design, including transit, highway and public works.
Direct and successfully lead the Construction Management Support Services Team.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Responsible for engaging inpositive and confident relationships with owners and owners' representatives, stakeholders, third-party agencies, as well as contractor,architects, designers, consultants and subcontractors that make up theproject team
  • Lead and manage the pre-planning, conceptualphase, pre-construction phase, construction phase, startup, revenueservice and close-out for the project for the Construction Management Support Services contract
  • Oversee and manage the value engineering, risk management and partnering aspects on the project
  • Oversee and manage the independent construction cost estimating for the project
  • Develop and maintain the project schedule
  • Communicate project schedule to the project team and subcontractors
  • Budget management - assist in establishing project strategy to meet profit goals
  • Ensure that accurate and complete plans and specifications are issued to the contractor (Construction Management/ General Contractor) and document any omissions or inaccuracies
  • Oversee the as-builts, submittals and manuals, in conjunction with the superintendent, and ensure all records are transmitted to the owner upon completion of project
  • Manage the Quality Assurance and oversee quality control for the project
  • Making sure all accounting for the project is accurate and complete and maintain accurate and timely reporting to the accounting department
  • Ensure Construction Management/ General Contractor monthly invoicing, schedule updates and progress reporting are accurate and in full compliance with their contract and scope of work
  • Oversee and manage timely monthly invoicing, schedule updates and progress reporting to the owner that meets all contract requirements

REQUIRED BACKGROUND AND SKILLS

PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE OBTAINED
  • A minimum of 15+ years of experience post grad, working at the project management level for a heavy civil general contractor or as an owner's representative for public works infrastructure with experience with local transit and highway related clients, including LA Metro, Caltrans, LADOT and LA Water and Power and Public Works
  • A minimum of 2-5+ years' experience employed as a construction vice president, senior project executive, senior project director, or a senior director operations for a heavy civil general contractor or as an owner's representative
  • Past experience individually managing ground-up heavy civil projects at a minimum value of $200M+ and transit projects at a minimum value of $500M+.  A minimum of four major projects.
  • Experience in Alternative Delivery, including Construction Management/ General Contracting. A minimum of two projects over $500M.
  • Experience in various aspects of construction planning and management, including but not limited to estimating, bidding, preparing, and administering purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, cost control, etc.
  • Past project experience specifically local to the Los Angeles heavy civil construction market. Minimum of two major projects.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, FORMAL TRAINING

Bachelor's Degree in Construction, Architecture, or Engineering or another applicable field from a U.S. accredited college or university

  • Must have strong people skills and the ability to interact with the project team

  • Candidates who reside locally in the Los Angeles area are preferred
